Some people believe that there’s a strong difference
between abuse and discipline. This is one point of view of the issue of child neglect
and abuse. - Last week, a 10-year-old boy arrived to his elementary class with bruises on his face. When his teacher asked the boy how he got these bruises, he informed her that he had been hit by a live-in relative for violating the family rules. Later that day, the male relative was taken into custody, arrested on suspicion of child abuse (Times-Press, 2011).
This is an example of CAN. When you discipline someone you train them to obey rules and to be obedient. This can be done by punishment or even physically. Abuse is when you use (something) to bad effect or for a bad purpose; misuse the term discipline. Abuse and discipline have different effects on the victims. Abuse is intentional and unintentional neglect based on mental or emotional reasons.
